12 months!

On Greyson's actual birthdate, Tanner had to be in school. So I made sure to make Grey feel special even though his party wasn't for a few days after his actual birthdate. The first thing we did was go to I-Hop just the two of us! The waitress was so cute and brought Greyson out huge pancakes (for free) with a candle and made the whole restaurant sing him Happy Birthday. And because Greyson LOVES attention and LOVES pancakes and LOVES music, he was in heaven. Then we played at the park, took a long nap, took Pancake on a walk and I tried to not tell him "no" the whole day (very difficult). I hope he felt special, even though he won't remember it.

Now to the CELEBRATION!

Preparation:

I was planning Greyson's first birthday party since before he was born... and I'm not even ashamed! I decided while he was in my tummy that his first birthday would be Mexican theme.

I went a little overboard, but I don't have any regrets! Although, to everyone...everywhere... when you think 'Oh, I can do complicated frosting for my child's cake for the first time' and 'oh I think it would be cute to make 80 rice krispie treats in the shape of a donkey'... STOP. DON'T DO IT. There may or may not have been tears shed. Preparation is not easy when you're an annoying over achiever.
But we live and we learn. And I will try to remember those things when Greyson has his 2nd birthday. Although, I'm not 100% committed to making it less complicated. Worrying, stress and almost killing myself trying to get many things done (that no one will even notice) perfectly... It's what I do best.

I made a big "chalkboard sign" for Greysons stats. It took WAY longer than expected. Like everything else I planned to do. This was the beginning...
But I was very happy with the end result :) Even though I legitimately had nerve damage in my hand for a week from writing for so much!

I made rice krispie treats in the shape of a donkey for the goodie bags. Another thing that took WAAAAYYY too long to do.

Way. Too. Long.
Goodie Bags with a "note" from Greyson attached. Inside was candy and the donkey rice krispie treats.
Greyson's cake was a labor of love. I made it out of a tin can and I was shocked when it turned out perfectly! I wanted it tall and skinny.
Sombrero cookies I made! They turned out so cute!

Greyson's frosted cake. The frosting was SO much more difficult than I thought. I'm no cake decorator. But he liked it so that's all that matters!

Greyson picking up all his balloons!

Dessert Station: Churros with chocolate dipping sauce, cookies in the shape of sombreros and in the corner of the table is goodie bags that I made.

Time capsule: Guests were asked to make various different predictions on sheets I made to put inside the time capsule for Greyson to read when he's 18. Also on this table is a bowl full of stick on mustaches for guests to wear.

Dinner: Burrito Bar with your choice of sweet pork or ground taco meat and all the fixings.

This blow up cactus served as a cooler in the bottom for all the drinks and it was also a ring toss game!

I have to say, my favorite part of his whole party was his cake. He had the FUNNIEST reaction I've ever seen and he sure put on a show! I was in tears from laughing so hard. He would take a bite, then be proud of himself and he'd cheer himself on while he chewed. It was so great.

Special thanks to my awesome Sister In Law Mckenzie for the awesome pics!

We were so blessed to have so many friends and family make the trip to come and Greyson was surrounded by so many people who love him unconditionally. He is one lucky boy!

Video of Greyson eating his cake... Haha. Never gets old. He sure loves attention.

I also made a video of all of our favorite pictures and videos from the last year. It's lengthy and probably obnoxious, but I love it and will cherish it forever. You can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfrNn3UNB4A
